ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS
Are you compliant?
As mandated by the Diocese of Trenton Office of Child & Youth Protection, the following areas of compliance must be adhered to
by all volunteers who wish to work in any church ministry
involving contact with children or vulnerable adults:
1) APPLICATION -- A volunteer application and Code of Conduct must be completed and submitted through the parish office.
2) VIRTUS TRAINING -- Virtus certification is valid for 4 years before
re-certification must be obtained. You must attend a re-certification session before December 31st of the fourth year if you wish to continue to volunteer in a church ministry.
3) CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK -- A background check will be conducted through fingerprint analysis by the New Jersey State Police, using the private service of IdentoGO. All new employees and volunteers are subject to a fingerprint scan for their initial screening. If you have been previously fingerprinted through the Diocese of Trenton for your employment or volunteer work in a church ministry, you do not need to be fingerprinted again.
You can schedule your IdentoGO appointment through Virtus.
Please bring to your appointment a valid Driver's ID and our parish code: TRE 095. Your results will be automatically submitted to the Diocese for evaluation. Within a matter of weeks, a letter of clearance, along with your new Virtus ID card, will be mailed to the parish office at St. John Neumann. Once we receive these, we will give you a call to come in and pick them up, and you will be all up to date with Virtus.
4) DIOCESE OF TRENTON VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT --
A document issued by the Trenton Diocese which outlines the behavioral expectations for anyone volunteering or working in a diocesan facility. This Code must be agreed and strictly adhered to by all church employees and volunteers without exception.
Protecting our children and families is a top priority for the administration and staff of our parish, and for all parishes and schools throughout the Diocese of Trenton. While we understand the demands on your time as volunteers, our first concern must be the safety of everyone placed in our care during the course of your ministry. Therefore, we require that these four areas of compliance be satisfied before you begin your ministry at St. John Neumann Church.
