Baptism is a ceremony of entry into the Catholic Church;
more importantly, entry into the new life that was opened to us
as a result of Christ's Death and Resurrection. We are all born
with the stain of original sin on our souls because of the first sin
of Adam and Eve. Baptism washes away this stain, introduces
sanctifying grace to the soul, and creates a permanent
spiritual mark of a new life in Christ Jesus.
Are you looking to celebrate your child's
Baptism at St. John Neumann?
First, you will need to call or visit the parish office
to fill out a registration form. You do not need to
be a registered parishioner of St. John Neumann
in order to have your child baptized at our church.
Godparents must be practicing Catholics -- one man
and one woman -- registered with a parish. A letter of
eligibility to be a godparent must be obtained from their
parish before the Baptism can be scheduled. If godparent is
a registered parishioner with St. John's, no letter is needed.
If godparent is unable to obtain a letter, they will be recorded
as a Catholic Witness. If godparent is non-Catholic,
they will be recorded as a Witness.
Once your child's Baptism is scheduled, parents are required
to complete a virtual Baptism prep class through our parish.
Necessary information and links will be provided via email.
Prior to the Baptism, you will also receive materials in the mail
with complete details and resources for the ceremony.
