Anointing of the Sick is when a sick or dying person is anointed
with holy oil, prayed over, and given special blessing by a priest.
Anointing of the Sick is also sometimes referred to as Last Rites,
or Extreme Unction. It is important to note that Anointing of the Sick
(as the name indicates) can only be administered to a person who is
still living, even if they are unable to communicate. The purpose of
the sacrament is to bring both spiritual and physical healing, comfort, and strength in preparation for death, or in a time of illness.
If you wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, or if you
know someone who does, please contact the parish office at
856.235.1330 ext. 3. We will get you in touch with a priest
to make a visit to the home of the sick or dying person, or to
the facility where the sick or dying person is being cared for.
If the person to receive the sacrament is near death and the
parish office is unavailable, please call 856-235-1330 ext. 2.
In the case of a medical emergency, please call 911.
